Sign is in good shape for its age. I believe this sign is from a 1985 Indy 500 event at the Indianapolis motor speedway. I cannot confirm this but I believe this is an authentic sign from the speedway. It is dated 1985 and says Indianapolis motor speedway corporation. It also says officially licensed product. It looks to have been framed as there are no holes drilled in it to hand on a wall. It is steel, slight surface rust on bottom, overall great shape and looks to be a piece of racing history. It is 19” tall and 14” wide.
It was part of a promotional campaign for Pennzoil motor oil centered on the debut of a revolutionary new race car. Designed by John Barnard, it was the first “ground effects” car to compete in the Indianapolis 500.
