Up for Buy-It-Now is a rare vintage Whitaker Battery Cables display sign that was obtained from an old service garage. There is no date on the piece, however from the individual tags listed for cable display, this is from the early 1900’s possibly to the 1910’s and 1920’s. The display sign measures 26 1/2″ x 8 3/8″ x 3/4″. The sign displays 15 separate battery cables sizes. There are 14 original tags left on the sign. Vehicles listed on them include Ford Model T & TT, Ford Model A & AA, Buick, Reo, Austin, Chevrolet 4 & 6, Oakland 6, Whippet, Chrysler, Dodge, DeSoto, Plymouth, Franklin, Essex, Hudson, Willys, Nash, Graham, Marmon, Roosevelt, Studebaker, & Oldsmobile Each of the individual tags measures 1 1/4 x 1 1/2″. All of the tags are very brittle and some broken from 100+ years of shelf storage. The sign itself is an army to forest green in color. The lettering is red with a yellow outline. The finish is in good used condition and there is crackling to the original paint and lettering. In addition, there are two symbols listed on the front of the sign. Both I believe are Associations of the early 1900 ear vehicle manufacturing. The first is MEA (Motor and Equipment Association and the other is NSPA (National Standard Parts Association). The top edge of the piece does have some of the original metal separated from the wood frame from previous installation. There are also a few spots of missing paint and very mild oxidation. There was one peg left on the front of the piece. It is included and can be sized to finish the remaining pegs if need be. This would make a great addition to those who collect Whitaker Battery Products or those who enjoy vintage Service Garage Memorabilia. Please feel free to E-mail me questions. International bidders are always welcome. Thanks for looking!
